Conference details

Address:
Bowen Island Lodge
380 Cardena St, Bowen Island, BC V0N 1G1, Canada

You can easily walk to the lodge after arriving on Bowen Island.
As you walk off the ferry, keep to the right hand side of the street behind the concrete barrier.
At the first street, turn right and walk to the end, as it curves to the right. Keep walking until you see the lodge, and a sign for the TripLit Conference. It is only about a 5 minute walk.

If you are driving, please let us know. There are limited parking spots at the lodge.

From check-in on July 29th until check-out on August 2nd you will be fully immersed in a community of creative, passionate people who strive to be a positive influence in the world.

Each morning will begin with optional activities such as yoga and trail running. After a delicious breakfast we will have intense mornings of engaging workshops and presentations.

Mornings and afternoons will include:

Hands-on workshops and discussions such as:

    • Portrait photography outdoors.
    • Adventure and action photography.
    • Photo editing.
    • How to improve your storytelling.
    • How to align your purpose with career.
    • The business of social media.
    • Working for brands.
    • Business panel with key marketing leaders from successful brands.
    • Why being authentic is good for you and for business.

Mock Campaigns Day:  Put your skills to work and pitch your group’s campaign, negotiate a contract and create the deliverables for real brands such as Corona and Tentree!

Afternoons will include free recreation time: Try kayaking, go for a walk, play spike ball, go for a swim or share stories on the lawn.

The first three evenings will each have a special presentation:

  • Ocean theme night will bring freediving stories from Emmett and Chelsea to the stage, raise awareness and funds for the inspiring work of Coral Gardeners, and listen to adventure stories from Steve Woods, a National Geographic adventure and nature photographer who contributes to marine conservation projects around the world.
  • We are still finalising the details of the other two evening presentations but we have so many possibilities – we can’t wait to announce them.

On the last evening we host a celebration dinner and dj dance party!

All prices include:

  • All meals and snacks beginning with dinner on July 29th and ending with lunch on August 2. Vegetarian options will always be available, and the food is healthy and delicious.
  • All tuition, workshops, and presentations.
  • Recreational activities that are available such as kayaking, yoga, guided trail runs.

Option 1:

Most people will stay at the Bowen Island Lodge, and this is also where most activities, workshops and presentations will take place. Most rooms are shared with two single beds, and a shared bathroom in the hall.

Cost: $2,100 USD

Option 2:

8-9 people will stay nearby at the Lodge at the Old Dorm. This is a 10 minute walk from the main lodge. Most rooms are shared with one other person and a private or shared bathroom.

Cost: $2,100 USD

Option 3:

We have an option for 4 people to stay offsite and find their own accommodation. Please look early as it is a very busy time of the summer and accommodation is limited on Bowen Island.

Cost: $1,600 USD

**We are watching the global situation with Covid-19 carefully. If it becomes apparent that we will need to cancel the conference, or that you will be unable to attend due to travel restrictions we will provide a full refund -$100 for fees. Any decision to cancel the conference would be made before June 29th.

We do!

When you register, there will be a $500 USD payment required. After you register, please contact us at info@gotriplit.com to arrange a payment plan.

Yes there is! Although it may not be as fast as you’re used to.

The conference is designed for people who are passionate about engaging in the world in a positive way. Photographers and filmmakers who want to create content with purpose, while also building a meaningful career. It’s for people who are looking to connect with like-minded individuals from around the world. Anyone from intermediate content creators to those who are already experienced and established will benefit.
*Minimum age to attend is 19 years.

If you are traveling from a country that requires a confirmation letter from us, please don’t hesitate to ask. We also suggest you begin the process of applying for a travel visa as soon as you purchase your ticket to make sure it arrives in time.

Arrival:
We suggest you arrive in Vancouver a few days ahead of the conference to adjust to jet lag and take the opportunity to explore Vancouver. You might even be able to connect with other conference attendees ahead of time (we will have a facebook group). It wouldn’t be a good idea to arrive at the airport on July 29th in case of delays.

Departure:
You might want to plan to be flexible for a few days after the conference. Last year many new friends planned spontaneous adventures around the area.

  • You will want to bring a laptop to edit photos, and any editing software that you like to use.
  • Camera, batteries, cards, camera bag (I’m sure you won’t forget these!)
  • Don’t forget your charging chords and an adaptor for North American plugs if you are travelling internationally. Bowen Island does have some stores, but it’s unlikely you will be able to purchase these types of things here.
  • Good walking shoes – we will be walking on trails and you will want to be able to scramble up rocks and through forests!
  • Water shoes – this is up to you, but if you plan to spend a lot of time in the water, some of Bowen’s beaches are rocky and have barnacles. Also good for Kayaking if you choose to try it. The beach in front of the Lodge isn’t very rocky.
  • Bathing Suit and Towel – The lodge will provide towels for showers, but it’s best to have your own beach towel.
  • Sunscreen (reef-safe please!), hat, sunglasses
  • Travel medical insurance if coming from outside of Canada this is a good idea. For emergency hospital visits, Bowen has an ambulance service, and patients are either taken across the water by water taxi or helicopter.
  • Medications that you require – there is a pharmacy on Bowen if needed
  • Water Bottle – you can fill your water bottles at the lodge with drinking water – no need to buy multiple plastic bottles.
  • Something warm for the evenings, and a light rain jacket just in case (though Bowen is experiencing an extremely dry spring/summer).
  • Comfortable clothes/shoes if you plan to participate in morning yoga or running.
